We are very happy to welcome Anton Wällstedt and Kanthee Prathan (shown in the picture) who will be doing their BSc theses in our group this semester.
Anton’s project revolves around chemicals that can potentially leach from food packaging to the food. More precisely, he will investigate how well MS2Quant can predict the ionization efficiency, and thereby the concentration, for leachable chemicals. Secondly, he will also determine if and how the selection of calibration chemicals will influence the quantification accuracy. From this work, we hope to be able to answer the question whether we need specific calibrants from the same group of chemicals we want to quantify or not.
Kanthee on the other hand will focus on the analysis and quantification of free amino acids in beverages such as tea with LC/MS. The analysis would serve as quality control of eventual claimed health aspects of the drinks. Furthermore, he aims to use the amino acid profiles obtained from the analysis to link the beverages with for example geographical location and botanical origin.
We are all looking forward to hear about the results from your results.
