WISE Dialogue Meeting Uppsala 17th/18th of March

From 17th to 18th of March, the WISE Dialogue Meeting in Uppsala took place high above the roofs of the old university town in the Uppsala Konsert & Kongress venue. Representatives from Myfab, the ESS and Max IV were advertising cleanroom environments and synchroton access to the material scientists in the audience. After that, there was time for poster sessions. I presented my recently published research on Oxidative transformation of tetracycline analyzed with non-target LC/HRMS and MS2Tox (https://doi.org/10.1002/eem2.70310), a collaboration project with Durga Vavilapalli and Johanna Rosén at Linköping University.
On the second day people from industry were presenting their companies: Holmen Board paper, Swedish plastic recycling, Nexam chemical, Stena recycling. We got to know more about adapting large-scale processes to changing markets (from newspapers to food boxes), the careful management of microplastics at Swedish plastic recycling, new plastic additives that allow recycling of plastics over multiple cycles and the efforts at Stena recycling to also remove short-chain PFAS in their waste treatment.
