SUCCeSS: The Future of Chemical Safety

Yvonne Kreutzer and Wei-Chieh (Harry) Wang presenting their posters on toxicity and ionization efficiency modelling.

On May 23, 2025, Stockholm University hosted a pivotal event titled “The Future of Chemical Safety,” organized by the Center for Circular and Sustainable Systems (SUCCeSS) and Prof. Oskar Karlsson. Earlier that week SUCCeSS organized The Nobel Symposium on Chemistry for Sustainability. A highlight was the introduction of the Stockholm Declaration on Chemistry for the Future, underscoring the commitment to a sustainable and non-toxic circular economy. You can read and sign the declaration here. We hear very happy that our SUCCeSS post-doc Henrik Hupatz could participate in this interdisciplinary dialogue aiming to shape the future of chemical safety.

The satellite event The Future of Chemical Safety brought together leading experts in toxicology and chemical risk assessment to explore innovative approaches in chemical safety, emphasizing the integration of toxicology advancements and science-policy collaboration. The event featured a series of presentations and discussions, including insights into AI-driven chemical safety assessments and high-throughput methods for toxicity assessment. The event also hosted a post-session, where our PhD student and post-docs also presented their recent work.
